Library & Research Skills

The St. Luke librarian integrates into the units being taught in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and explicitly teaches research skills to all kindergarten through grade 5 students. In the Middle Years Programme (MYP), grade 6 through 8, the librarian works with students and teachers to teach library skills, research and digital citizenship.

The Social Studies Standards for research and academic honesty are taught to to Kindergarten through Grade 5.  The librarian coordinates with teachers to determine when it will be best for her to come into the classroom (or take classes to the library) and introduce, teach and reinforce these skills. She coordinates this research with the PYP (Primary Years Programme) units of inquiry.
